We began our Monday morning with a new set of Words Their Way. Once they were cut out and labelled, we sorted them into their categories and recored them in our journals. Between these different groups we worked on our Daily 5 routines.
After our nutrition break, Mr. Demman started playing a music video while we cleaned up. The video was called "Everything at Once". Some of us noticed that the song lyrics were almost entirely created using similes. Tricky segue into our writing lesson Mr. Demman...
Mrs. Kenna then paid us a visit and gave us a French lesson. We were learning how to say a variety of different fruit names such as: strawberry, peach, pear, apple, cherry and pineapple. We ended our lesson by telling the teaches the name of our favorite fruit...in French!
This afternoon, Mr. Demman shared a new multiplication game with us called "Array Capture". This game helps us to visualize our multiplication sentences. It also provides us to with a strategy tha helps us know if our answers are correct.
During Science Inquire the engineers completed the build of their structure. We have started to label the buildings components. The scientists discovered some information about the storms on Mars and have challenged us to find a way to capture the energy. The engineers are always up for a challenge!
The scientists continued their work on building their website. We continue to gather information that can help our engineer friends. For example: did you know that wind storms can last up to a month on Mars? What a great way to create energy for our structure. Wind Turbines!
In Gym, we met Mrs. T from the Alberta Gymnastics. She shared with us some of the basic positions that we will be using.
