Welcome back after another beautiful weekend!
This morning we jumped right into our Daily 5 routines. We made time to practice our handwriting technique and are really doing well. We also paired with a partner to work on our Words Their Way. After sorting our words into their categories, we worked with our partner to check in on the spelling - paying attention to the areas that need attention.
During our nutrition break we started a new read aloud book called 'PAX' by Sara Pennypacker. What we know so far is that Pax is a fox who was rescued by a boy named Peter. Some circumstances in Peter's home have changed and Pax will also be facing some challenges and adventure.
We then moved onto Readers' Theatre with Mr. Demman. We watched two video examples and were given time to find a good fit poem that we will be working on in groups. The last part of the morning was with Mrs. Kenna where we practiced speaking our french.
In math, we learned a new multiplication game called "Focused Facts". We paired with a friend and challenged ourselves to use our strategies.
1.) We are encouraging students to wear red tomorrow. We are wearing red to show support for the RCMP officer who was killed in the line of duty last week in Victoria. Here is an article about the Wear Red Support Day

2.) On Friday, students are asked to bring their pre-recorders to music with Mrs. McBride
Since finishing Follow the Elephant - what was the most memorable part and why?
I think it was the part when they just left the taxi and the monkeys tried to get the banana. Because they were finally out of the taxi and Gran felt better.

I think it was the ending when they "went back in time" to that quote:You come to India seeking adventure, but what you find, is yourself.
ReplyDeleteIsabel's favourite part was when they found Shanti because it was a long journey.
ReplyDeleteWhen Ben was riding the elephant and got to be on the trunk because I would love to ride an elephant and I think it would be a miracle.
