We had our Artist in Residence, Jeff Stockton, in our classroom today.  We offered our classroom for all of the grade 3/4 classes to have a quiet space to meet with him.  We had the opportunity to spend some time listening to his wonderful storytelling, which he did while playing background on the harp.  It was very magical to hear how he used his voice and the music to help us to make a movie in our minds as he told the story.  Mr. Stockton will be returning every Thursday to work with us to learn about storytelling and to prepare for our Winter Celebration in December.

Mrs. Zwack would like to thank the whole class for being patient and flexible in working outside of their classroom today.  Also a big thank you to Mrs. Peterson for sharing her space with us this morning!  We had fun working together on Daily 5 and had a chance to do REad to Someone with a buddy from Mrs. Peterson's class.

We also shared a picture book to begin our work to prepare for Remembrance Day next week.  Please ask your child to tell you about the story and what connections they made to the author's message.

This afternoon, we worked on a "Show What You Know" with some really big numbers!  All the way up to 10 000.  Many of the questions made us really think, which is good for our brains.  When we got done this challenge we were able to work on some Math With Someone or Math By Myself.

During our Nutrition Break we continued reading Wonder.  It is really interesting to hear the story from someone else's point of view.

In our science inquiry, we talked about how we can wrap up our inquiry and started to prepare for our new inquiry.  We looked at some of the key words  from our research about oil refining.  Tomorrow we will discuss how we can create a chart of how oil is refined.  We got to work in the new Peace Wing Learning Commons today.  This was pretty neat as there are many different places to work in there.

Wednesday is dance day.  We were stars today. Everyone was moving and grooving to the tunes. Mrs. Bowles will try and video us next week and we can share it on Twitter.

  1. we would need to see what stuff we need to bring with us to help us survive and research if there is what stuff we would need and stuff that mars already has for us
