Surprise!!! It's Mr. Demman,
What a "Wonder"ful Tuesday!
We began our day with the Daily 5 routine. Mrs. Zwack will be so proud to learn about the responsible learning and sharing that continues to happen.
After our first round of Daily 5, Mr. Demman read, "The True Story of the 3 Little Pigs!" by Jon Scieszka. Not only did I learn the true story of this timeless tale, we discovered the strategy - skip the word, then come back. Through Read to Self we practiced the new strategy. During guided reading I also witnessed many of our learners continuing to practice the - skip the word, then come back strategy and having great success.
Thank you for a great afternoon of learning. We started our afternoon with music. Today we had Mrs. Jones' student teacher work with us. After music we rushed back to class to learn some new games in math. We are moving into learning about Patterns and Relations. Mrs. Bowles taught us a Math By Myself game called Roll a Rule. We can make the game as challenging as we want with the dice that we choose. We even have a 30 sided die. The second game we learned was called Pattern Builders. This is a game that we can use adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing to create patterns with cards.
In our Science Inquiry, we worked with Mrs. Quilley's class again. We talked about what we know about Mars. We learned a new word today Terraforming this means to change a hostile environment into a living environment. This is exactly what we hope to do with our Mars Inquiry.
In gym, we played floor hockey or another game that uses the giant Q-tips and a ball. Please explain the game to your friends and family.
Things to Remember:
1.) Tomorrow is Fun Lunch - yay!
2.) Lexi's mom is coming in to teach us about dinosaurs and oil.
2.) Thank you to those who have sent in items for the Families Helping Families - we now have an UNO game, toothpaste, and a large comfy blanket.
3.) No School on Friday - Non- Instructional Day
Question of the Day:
What are some of your wonders about the planet Mars?
Dear Mrs. Zwack and Bowles class,
ReplyDeleteAs usual, I was very impressed with your behaviour today in music class. My student teacher Miss N. was teaching her first day of music lessons ever! She mentioned to me that she was very impressed with the way you all listened and behaved; even when I was way at the back of the learning commons working with other students. You tried your best to learn the new rhythm concept and also sounded wonderful singing Christmas carols. I thought I would share this with you, and your teachers on your blog, since I won't see you again until Thursday morning.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jones :)
