September 2nd, 2015 - We Made It Through Day 2

Hello Friends,

Another busy day in Room 80!  We started our day with revisiting the First Day Jitters that we read yesterday.  We talked about feelings and emotions that we experience at home and at school. We drew pictures in our journals about what we looked and felt like the night before school. We then wrote about some of our thoughts and feelings in our journals.  They chose books from the classroom library and began to set up our literacy bins.  We started our morning read aloud  The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate Di Camillo.

We went outside for a movement break as it takes awhile to build our learning stamina after a long summer break.  We returned to the class and we did an activity with a ball of wool. We shared a piece of information about ourselves that others might not know about us. We then threw the rest of the ball of wool around the classroom eventually making a web.  We discussed how we are all connected in our classroom and the strength of a spider's web.

After  an active lunch break we returned to class ready to work.

We started our afternoon with math.  We began setting up our math notebooks.  We discussed the purpose of a math notebook. We will continue to set it up tomorrow.  Our math book today was The Real Princess: A Mathemagical Tale by Brenda Williams and Sophie Fatus.

Thank you to Kartik who helped us figure out the difficult math problems.
Again we needed a quick play break at the playground while Mrs. Bowles took pictures of us.
When we returned to class we went to gym with Mrs. Peterson's class. We got to play some tag games and work together cooperatively.

The day ended quickly and it was time to go home.

What suggestions can you give to everyone about being a member of a village?

2 comments:

  1. you have to be respectful to every one also it is smaller than a city for example a city is like our whole school but a village it is all the wings
