Good Evening Everyone,

Mrs. Zwack was away at an appointment this morning and our students handled themselves very well with the substitute teacher.  We worked on building stamina for Read to Self and introduced the expectations for Read to Someone.  We read the story, The Invisible Boy and discussed how important it is to include everyone in our fun and learning.  In writing, we did a Temperature Check activity where we wrote a letter to Mrs. Zwack and Mrs. Bowles explaining our thoughts and feelings about the year so far.

This afternoon we had a busy, productive time together.

For the first hour (who would have thought it would take this long) we finished our discussion and our book about September 11th.  We connected our thinking with our classroom motto:  Be the change you want to see in the world. ~ Gandhi.   We talked about positive changes and negative changes.  The choices made by a few on September 11, 2001 definitely changed the world but not in a positive way.  We also discussed the heroes that came out of such a tragic event and how Canadians made a difference.

In math, we continued to look at our problem we started on Friday.  We looked at how many different ways we could solve it.  We also looked at how patterns can help us keep our thinking organized and help us find even more ways!

In our science inquiry we re-watched the video on how Fossil Fuels are formed.  If you would like to watch it click on the link below.

We started our comic strips about the process and hope to have a good copy in our creative journals by the end of the week.

In gym, we put a little boogie in our workout.  We got our heart rates up to some Just Dance.  If you would like to try the workout at home just follow a couple of links listed.
