A fun way to look at the movie and what predictions came true.  I wonder what predictions would we make for the year 2045?

This afternoon was a little mixed up as we had to prepare ourselves to be tour guides for the Student Led Learning Walks.

The beginning of our afternoon was looking at our Twitter account.  We have more followers than we had before.  We are up to 11 followers!
We also looked at how we could find the answers to some of the questions that we have about our science inquiry.  Today we learned how to ask a question to a special group using a hashtag #.  We asked the question of what kinds of dinosaurs would we find in both conventional oil as well as oil sands.  We would like to reach as many people as possible to find out the answers.  Hopefully, we will find someone who can answer our question.

In math, we just had time to complete one round of Math Daily 3.  We are trying to use all of the options available to us.  If you have found a great math app to share with us please let us know what it is.

We did not have Ms. Janelle for dance today due to all of the work that is set up in the gym.  So we made our own dance day.  We did a Halloween Just Dance and boogied to the following songs:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izMJDiHQBH0 - Ghost Busters
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olxAiFNDtEc - This is Halloween
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0wNc5SKBaQ - Monster Mash
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfO_aVS1VAQ - Thriller

Have some fun dancing with some of your family members!

For our Student Led Learning Walks please share with your family how writing has changed since you were in kindergarten.

Answer some of these questions:

1.)  What can I do now that I couldn't do when I was in kindergarten, grade 1, etc.

2.)  How does writing help me communicate my thinking?

3.)  Look at writing in some of the different subject areas: science, social, art.  How does writing about my learning help me in those subjects?

4.)  What do you hope to be able to do in communicating our learning by the end of the year?

2.)  Important Notice about Digital Citizenship

Hello Cranston families,
This week is the start of our annual, extended Digital Citizenship week at Cranston School.  Starting this week and continuing over the next 4 weeks, Mr. McDougall and Mr. Southworth will be doing lessons with each of the classes around Internet safety, including how to protect your identity of the web, and spotting advertising, as students interact with the digital world.  Time will also be spent on using student devices at school.
On our Digital Citizenship webpage you will find our 'Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) letter, school-wide Digital Citizenship plan and classroom Twitter guidelines.  As well, you will find activities and games for kids to play and work through at home.  This is an excellent way for parents to spend quality time with their children while helping to guide them through the digital world.
You will find a link to the Digital Citizenship page at the top of our Cranston School website.
Alternatively, you can also follow this direct link:
Thanks,
Mr. Southworth & Mr. McDougall
