This morning we worked well together on Reading and other Daily 5 activities.  Although it is nearing the end of the year, we continue to work on our reading and writing skills.  The students are all still busy at work and enjoying working together.  Mrs. K, our educational assistant, commented today that it was amazing that the whole class was so focused!

We had some technical difficulties today and did not get a chance to use the computers to work on our Inquiry projects.  We will get some extra time tomorrow.

Our afternoon began with music.  We finished our composer presentations.  Mrs. Jones read us a book about a composer.

After music we talked about each of us as part of our class. We looked at words that could describe each of us.  We brainstormed a list that filled up the entire whiteboard. Then we completed a page where we used one word to describe each student.

We continued our work on our wind turbines. They are coming along nicely. We will begin testing our designs tomorrow.  With the way the weather has been these last two days it will be great to a some fans in the class.

In gym we continued to work with Foothills Soccer.  We played some games that worked on our skills of keeping our heads up and using our bodies to shield the ball from our opponents.

Things to Remember:
1.) With the weather so hot please remember a water bottle, sunscreen and a hat for when we are outdoors.
2.)  We will continue to work with Foothills Soccer so please dress accordingly to be outside playing soccer.

Question of the Day:
What has been the most challenging about building your wind turbine?  What plan do you have to overcome this challenge?

Probably putting all the stuff together and How will it spin? We are just going with what we planned and change things that need to be changed.

  2. Mine is making the blades on our wind turbine even. To complete our challenge we had to cut it so it is even.

  3. Our biggest problem as a group has been agreeing on ideas. We should include all ideas even if they are not great ideas. By ISABEL

  4. Figuring out how it is going to spin. I am going to think about it, ask questions and talk about it to solve the problem.

  7. I think the most challenging part was trying to make it spin. We overcame it by putting a button on the skewer to support it. -ANDREA
