Good Evening Everyone,

Welcome Back to Mr. Demman our student teacher.  Mr. Demman will begin to take over the class under the guidance of Mrs. Bowles and Mrs. Zwack over the next eight weeks.  We look forward to his ideas and teaching.

In math today we began our preparation for our multiplication and division learning. Today we did a self-assessment and reflection on our learning of addition and subtraction.  We also had the chance to do a pre-assessment on multiplication and division. We are getting really good at understanding that these help the teacher prepare our learning around what we already know and what we need to be successful.

In our science inquiry we focused on the "writing of science."  We looked at the writing skills that scientists use to document their understanding and the experiments that they are doing.  We listed that scientists need to be able to write about:
Procedures
Observations
Journals/Notes
Experiments
Findings
We then took some time to write about what we are currently doing in our science inquiry.

In gym today we continued our work on dribbling and control in basketball.  We warmed up with completing laps around the gym while dribbling. Mrs. Bowles introduced us to a new warm up called Dribble Tag - we had to knock away others basketballs while controlling our own.  If our ball was knocked away we had to leave the game area and do 25 jumping jacks.  We also worked on our dribbling skills with two relay activities.

Tell us about what you are currently doing in our science inquiry.  Write 3 sentences about what you are working on.  What have you learned or noticed?  What are you planning on doing next?

We are working on what structures we would need if we lived on Mars. We need to build rooms and buildings with special doors to keep our air inside and special flooring. We think it would be cool to have a flying hockey mini stick room. We wouldn't NEED this but think it would be fun. We are learning how to do science writing to talk about our structures and why they are important.

  2. We have been growing plants like tomato's and green beans. We are also thinking about what plants are fast growing and what plants are healthy. We picked fast growing foods. - Lexi

  3. We are planting plants to live on Mars and we have learned that no person has gone to Mars. We are planning to wait until they are all done. ANDREA

of our lid of the plants.I learned that Mars One is sending people to mars i think in 2020. I think we are planing to plant some carrots and cabbage.

  6. I am planting tomatoes and green beans because those ones are healthy and grow pretty quick in the scientist and botanist group.I learned that no one has ever been on mar.I noticed that when we checked on our plants there was like some moist on the roof of the lid.I think next we should work on how are we gonna get clean air.

  7. For are science inquiry we are working on planting plant's! Some of things we are planting is lettuce, tomato's,cabbage, green beans and carrots. We learned what evaporation is and how it works. I learned that they are having people go to Mars in 202?
