This morning we worked on 3 rounds of Daily 5 and got lots of reading and writing done.  In the middle round, we worked on handwriting.  We took a bit of time to review the letters we have learned thus far and then challenged the students to come up with words using only those letters.  We discovered that the words are much more challenging that simply practicing individual letters.  We need to remember how to form each letter AND how to connect it to the next!  We will practice these words again later this week.

After read aloud and snack we finished up our work on our Continents maps with Mr. Demman.  He had everyone doing the Rap Song (see link below).  It appears that all of the students know the 7 continents and where they are on a map!!

In math with Mr. Demman we created 2 Venn Diagrams using hula-hoops and an assortment of objects that we sorted into categories.  This will be leading us into how the Venn Diagram can inform mathematics in the world around us.

In Mrs. Bowles' group we started a 12 Days of Christmas Math Problem.  We were trying to find out how many gifts  "True Love" actually gave to me.  We identified that this is actually an increasing pattern problem.    We used a few different strategies to help us see what the pattern was.  Some of us are drawing the increasing pattern, while others have made a chart.  We will continue to complete this pattern tomorrow.

We enjoyed spending time with friends from a variety of different rooms during the Crafternoon activity.  We created unique 'up-cycled' ornaments to decorate our trees throughout the school...and they are fantastic!

During Phys Ed. we went outside and enjoyed the sunshine!  We warmed up with a 2 minute run followed by an hilarious variation of tag called Partner Tag. Those who were tagged found themselves earning their way back into the game after 10 repetitions of an exercise of their choice. This was then followed by Partner Capture the Flag.  The green team were the victors of this event.  Great effort everyone!!!

Things to Remember:

1.)  Our Jeff Stockton Concert will be on December 16th,

2.) Very Important!  The Peace Ambassadors and EcoTeam are  asking YOU to bring
canned goods, nonperishable food items, paper towel, and tissues to contribute to The Mayor’s Food Drive for TOMORROW!
They are going to build a dreamy structure, from all the contributions.  Please bring in your donations, and place them int the bins, first thing, tomorrow morning!

Question of the Day:

Sing the "Continent Rap"  to  someone in your family. Tell us about what they thought of your song.
